2008 Scholarship Opportunties

The mission of the Board of Higher Education, Christian Unity and Interfaith Ministries is to encourage the spiritual growth and outreach of students, faculty and staff in institutions of post-secondary education; and promote the work of ecumenical and interfaith structures of which the United Methodist Church is a part. This Board will support Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska with personnel and support for ecumenical and interfaith agencies and ministries. This Board will encourage college student involvement with the ministries of the annual conference, through peer ministry, retreats and camps.

Goals and Objectives

  1. Campus Ministry

      Support peer ministry.
    • Support campus ministries on the UN-Lincoln, UN-Omaha, UN-Kearney, Wayne State College, Chadron State College, and Peru State College campuses through Nebraska United Ministries in Higher Education (NUMHE).
    • Encourage information and presence of campus ministry in conference and district youth activities.
    • Invite participation in Methodist Student Movement.
    • Promote the establishment of ministry areas on community college campuses through the local churches.
    • Encourage campus ministries at Nebraska Wesleyan University and Nebraska Methodist College.

  2. Christian Unity/Interfaith Ministries

    • Offer mini-grants to churches/clusters for ecumenical/interfaith events.
    • Participate in the National Workshop on Christian Unity (NWCU)
