Camp and Retreat Development Committee
Helping God's people grow in faith to meet the challenges of today and beyond through United Methodist camps and retreats.
Goals and Objectives
- Professional Staff Development
- Send camp managers (per site) and camping leaders to United Methodist jurisdictional and national camp leadership events.
- Send camp managers, program professionals and camping leaders to regional and national American Camping Association programs.
- Send board members to fund raising training.
- Send board members to Youth Specialties Convention.
- Support individuals with tuition and lodging for certification in camping.
- Program Development
- Creative programming grants.
- Second season programming for "all" persons of the United Methodist Church.
- Camper scholarships
- Allows annual conference to assist children and youth with their registration fees for United Methodist camp and retreat sessions.
- No more than ½ of the total fee will be paid with this fund. Local churches are encouraged to develop local scholarship programs for camping.
- Publicity/Promotion
- Covers the cost for developing, printing, and mailing the camping brochure.
- Covers cost of advertising in the Messenger.
- Covers the cost of a Web site.
- Allows for publicizing the United Methodist camping programs, both summer and year-round, in other media (newspaper, radio, television)--public service as well as paid advertising.
- Create a group of college-age persons to travel to local churches and children and youth programs to share a camping experience.
- Training
- Covers the cost to train volunteers.
- Covers the expense of child protection policy training and screening.
- Covers the cost of pre-camp training for volunteers.
- Covers the cost of pre-camp orientation and planning for directors and counselors.
- Summer program assistants
- Partial assistance for cost of summer program assistants.
